One Lucky Weiner!!!!!

I'm a winner! I got home today and there was a phone message from the Sow's Ear letting me know that I'd won a travel mug in a drawing that I entered Knit Night before last. Then I checked my email and found that Beth from Chocolate Sheep fame had awarded me her 1,000th comment prize! [And to think I only had to send comment after comment after comment continuously all day to ensure I won! Hee Hee!] I'm a lucky ducky. Even my Bleeding Hearts started blooming today! I should go buy a lottery ticket!

I couldn't read one more word last night and so I broke Mabel out of her library-enforced confinement and spun a little more of the Froot Loops merino. It's got so many bright colors and is so soft that it just makes me happy to look at it! Can't wait to ply it. I'm hoping for a Knock-Down-Drag-Out-Dave-Daniels-esque-Color-Riot!

One of our Sales folks from California brought my co-worker and I 3 bags of Angora Goat fleece that she had recently sheared. It was so soft, but unfortunately she hadn't sheared in over a year and the fleece was too long and matted to be of much use for spinning. My co-worker says it would make beautiful felt though so she took it to work on it. We thought there were two buff colored fleeces and a gray. She washed a little bit of the buff and it came out a gleaming white. Beautiful stuff. I don't think I'm up to the raw and natural stuff though. I like my stuff carded and colored up pretty when I get it. I think probably my next step will be dying already carded roving.

We went over to the University of Wisconsin Swap this morning. They are open to the public the second Saturday of each month. What an interesting place. There were tons of used stuff from the UW that they sell at ridiculously low prices (office furniture, computers, copiers, office supplies) and things that they will be auctioning off online (including some chairs from the Capitol building that had been used as props in Johnny Depp's new movie 'Public Enemy' that has been filming downtown this week). Found a great deal on CD cases!

Mr. Bee mowed the lawn today and then we engaged in some deck sitting while Princess Holli and Senor Snort and Blow played around the lawn. It's the perfect day. No wind. Cloudy-ish and not too hot. First they pull equally, then Ben poops out and lays down. Holli pulls his sorry butt around on his belly for a while and then tires out too and they both lie down and munch on their respective ends of the rope.

Hope your weekend is going as well as ours!

Aww, the dawgs are CUTE! Mr Dearling mowed too (preparatory to our going out of town...otherwise we'd need Indiana Jones to find the place when we get back) but my flowers are hanging back. I have a feeling that my lilacs and lilies-of-the-valley will bloom, peak and fade before we get back! (and she wanders off, mumbling and making rude comments which are ignored by the cats).

Sounds like the same kind of morning we had..drinking coffee and sitting on the deck.
I did take our neighbor to look at the loom, which she did buy. Soon to have another weaver in the "hood". Maybe one in the Verona at some point, eh? :)
Have a nice rainy Sunday!

Sounds like a good day to buy a lottery ticket, just for the heck of it.

Good thing you got that outdoor time in yesterday. Today sure has that kind of chill that makes indoors a nice place to be!
