Fifteen Minutes Of Foot Fame
I got my big honkin' bandages off today. After dragging them around and stewing in the for two weeks, I almost brushed the nurse with her little cuticle scissors away and ripped them all off in one swell foop. I can't describe the feeling of fresh, air-conditioned air on my leg and tootsies. Ahhhhh!
Doc K. came in and took one look and said that it was healing beautifully. I think there was about 10-12 stitches which they took out and replaced with butterflies. He said that he took photos of the tendon when it was opened up and used them for a lecture down at the UW. Let's hope he just got my heel in the shot and not by butt hanging out of my lovely revealing gown. Least I had my best undies on....as far as I know. I checked and they were there before anesthesia and were on when I got home so I'm fairly confident that there isn't some website called 'www dot mollybees tookus' out there somewhere.
So now, I am back in my aircast, complete with fishy-stickers. Still no weight bearing for two weeks but I can at least take the cast off at night to sleep, take a shower (you have no idea what a BIG deal this one is!) , or if I'm just sitting watching TV. It hurts more now that it did with all of the bandages because the cast allows it to move more but I'm being gentle with it and stretching gently until I can start PT on the 14th of July. I even got my spinning wheel out because I can manage it now and it is very soothing. Maybe I can get my 'Firecracker' singles finished and plied before the 4th of July.
And so to wrap up: my foot is famous, I'm back among the cleanly and thought I'll still be terrorizing department stores with my wheelchair for two more weeks, I'm further along the road of recovery!
Thanks to everyone for the well wishes and little pick me ups. You have no idea how much they made my days better! You guys are the best!

See you at the end of July!
How exciting that you're able to spin, too! Slow and easy, please!
