Fifteen Minutes Of Foot Fame

I got my big honkin' bandages off today. After dragging them around and stewing in the for two weeks, I almost brushed the nurse with her little cuticle scissors away and ripped them all off in one swell foop. I can't describe the feeling of fresh, air-conditioned air on my leg and tootsies. Ahhhhh!

Doc K. came in and took one look and said that it was healing beautifully. I think there was about 10-12 stitches which they took out and replaced with butterflies. He said that he took photos of the tendon when it was opened up and used them for a lecture down at the UW. Let's hope he just got my heel in the shot and not by butt hanging out of my lovely revealing gown. Least I had my best undies on....as far as I know. I checked and they were there before anesthesia and were on when I got home so I'm fairly confident that there isn't some website called 'www dot mollybees tookus' out there somewhere.

So now, I am back in my aircast, complete with fishy-stickers. Still no weight bearing for two weeks but I can at least take the cast off at night to sleep, take a shower (you have no idea what a BIG deal this one is!) , or if I'm just sitting watching TV. It hurts more now that it did with all of the bandages because the cast allows it to move more but I'm being gentle with it and stretching gently until I can start PT on the 14th of July. I even got my spinning wheel out because I can manage it now and it is very soothing. Maybe I can get my 'Firecracker' singles finished and plied before the 4th of July.

And so to wrap up: my foot is famous, I'm back among the cleanly and thought I'll still be terrorizing department stores with my wheelchair for two more weeks, I'm further along the road of recovery!

Thanks to everyone for the well wishes and little pick me ups. You have no idea how much they made my days better! You guys are the best!

Hooray for Footie Freedom! Glad to hear you're heel-ing nicely, and didn't have to get plastered. Now keep doing what the Doctor toe'd you, leg go of your worries, attack that physical therapy from all ankles, and thank that DH of yours for his tendon loving care. (Sorry. I know, my jokes can be weighed in punnage...)

See you at the end of July!

YAY!! Glad you're making great progress! For what it's worth, I'm taking an intense anatomy class right now, and your tendon hasn't shown up there....YET.... We're just working on the upper extremities right now. Maybe in a couple of weeks :-)

Congrats on all points! I'm sure Mr. Bee is VERY happy about your being able shower, too. :)
How exciting that you're able to spin, too! Slow and easy, please!

I can't even begin to touch Linda's post (WOW!) but Congrats! Yay, progress! And please take it easy and follow doctor's orders. This is certainly an experience that should be once in a lifetime! :)

MAZEL TOV!! I do know the feeling (though it was a while back) and it's true, it IS delicious. (Also I remember my first geunine shower after my last surgery - I came out saying "Aaaah, I feel like a new man!" to which Mr Dearling gasped "WHAT?") Heheheee. Anyway, I am very delighted with your progress and hope to see you restored to the Hog-and-Blog community soon! (PS - Linda, you oughta be ashamed of yurself....making me spit tea all over my keyboard like that)

Yay!!! What freaked me out the most about the whole surgery thing was that the foot on the surgical side looked just like an old lady's foot-no muscle (oh shit what's the word.. tension?), it just flopped about. But after a day or two it started to look like my foot. DEMAND ROYALTIES. I had lyme pics taken years ago... where was my recompense??? Tell the doc you want to see the pics. Tell the doc you WANT to HAVE the pics... then you can share with us! Enjoy the long weekend...
