CDC Confusion and Pun'kin Fun

We got a little health newsletter in the mail today. The front page has some tips from the CDC to avoid getting the flu. I'm glad I work with scientists because I immediately had questions. I was waaaay confused...
  1. Avoid close contact with others who are sick. (Shun and ostracise your coworkers. Got it. Check.)
  2. Stay home when you are sick. (Shun your neighbors too. Pretty straightforward. Check.)
  3. Cover your mouth and nose. (Will make it difficult to work, not to mention breath, but o.k.)
  4. Clean your hands. (Difficult to do while they are over my mouth and nose but I'm pretty dexterous with my elbows. Probably doable. Check.)
  5. Avoid touching your nose or mouth. (This is where I got confused 'cause number three says....)

My kids worked out that you only have to cover your mouth and nose until you die from lack of oxygen and then you don't have to worry about getting the flu....and just that easily we discovered the cure for H1N1! That's how science works!

In other news...the front page of the hometown newspaper had an article about folks in Maine sailing pumpkins: http://www.bangordailynews.com/detail/124863.html. I sent the article to my kids commenting that anyone could chuck a pumpkin (they're big on trebuchets out here) but it takes a rare breed to sail one. One of my kids allowed that if the seas were rough enough he could probably sail and chuck at the same time! That's why I come to work in the morning!

Pumpking paddling, not pumpkin sailing! YEah, we have those same guidelines posted around work... but what about those folks who don't have sick time, they come to work and infect the rest of us...

Just got a comment on my last blog entry reminding me that Monday is actually the last day of November, not today. So I have TWO more entries to complete NaBloPoMo; today and TOMORROW. Lots of New Tangle Pattern Ideas!

I've been setting aside tangles that I've created in a special file in my cabinet. When I put one in last night, I realized that I had quite a stockpile and that I hadn't put only of them out there for others to try...so here they all are. I'm not good at stepouts or at naming. Most of them are named after placed in Maine...just because. I'd love to see any tangles that you've done that use any of these patterns! Have fun and tangle on!

Wicked Wonderful Weekend

 I had a really nice weekend. I didn't expect to since I had both my Covid booster and my flu shot  on Thursday afternoon. My first of the original two Covid shots put me under the weather for about 24 hours...but I just got a headache from this one and that's about it. And since I get headaches anyway, who knows if it was from the shots or not? At any rate, I was prepared for a stay-at-home-lay-about weekend.  Life is what happens when you are making other plans.  Since I decided Friday Night that I guess I wasn't going to be incapacitated after all, I arranged to go with friend, Donna to Baraboo to the Arts and Crafts Festival. It was really nice and way bigger than I thought it would be. Baraboo is where Ringling Brothers started so there were also circus-y things all over town. So much fun! After the Fair we went to lunch at a little breakfast place and then headed to one of my fav spots, Pewett's Nest, to see the gorge and waterfall. Then we stopped at Sky Hi Ap...
