Florida-Day 4. The Little Everglades Steeple Chase

On Sunday we were treated to a day at the Little Everglades Ranch Steeple Chase. This is a charity event that is held on a 2000 acre ranch in Florida's horse country every year . There were Irish and English jockeys, Jack Russell terrier races and craft exhibits. Lot of the ladies were dressed in their southern finery including huge hats like at the Kentucky Derby. Our host had a party tent right on the back stretch of the track. It was a beautiful sunny day as I proved by getting a sunburn despite SPF 55 lotion. I'm from Wisconsin, Y'all! I'm lucky I didn't burst into flames! Here is the tent. A lot of them were decorated with themes for judging. Guess what our theme was?
I, of course, scouted out the animal ops. Here I am with a 15 week only tiger:
We rubbed her tummy and feet until she fell asleep. I can honestly say that I've had a tiger by the tail now!
Here is my new bestest buddy. She is a two year old albino wallaby. She ran right over to me and gave me kisses and snuggles. I suspect her 'kisses' licked off the SPF 55, hence the sunburn, but it was totally worth it!

And here is the skinniest horse I've ever seen! I know it's not a 'real' animal, but it was a beautiful sculpture so I got my picture taken with it.

I watched the Jack Russell terrier races for quite a while although it was impossible to take a photo. Those little guys are QUICK! So I'll leave you with this one of a little racer after the race:
Don't you think Ben would look great in this handy little carrier? Now I only need 15-20 of you to volunteer to help me lift him in it!

Oh, my DEAR! I'm having SUCH a good time virtually sharing "our" vacation -- you're such a treat. I'd feel dreadfully jealous....but I'm going to hear the Yarn Harlot tomorrow and it's supposed to be a sunny day in the "lower 50s" (it's not Florida but it's ABOVE ZERO). Also they're having a "20-vendor shop". I feel the urge to boost the economy by spending.......OH! My verification word is "IREST", how cool is that? :o)

I've got to have one of those little doggie carriers! Then all I'll need is a doggie. I'm sure it's a great pleasure to be slung on a shoulder and crash into all doorways along with the laptop and purse. My word is "dogio."

I love the terrier pocketbook! So very cool you got the tiger by its tail and kisses from a wallaby. Are ya comin' home with a fancy derby hat?

Just got a comment on my last blog entry reminding me that Monday is actually the last day of November, not today. So I have TWO more entries to complete NaBloPoMo; today and TOMORROW. Lots of New Tangle Pattern Ideas!

I've been setting aside tangles that I've created in a special file in my cabinet. When I put one in last night, I realized that I had quite a stockpile and that I hadn't put only of them out there for others to try...so here they all are. I'm not good at stepouts or at naming. Most of them are named after placed in Maine...just because. I'd love to see any tangles that you've done that use any of these patterns! Have fun and tangle on!

Wicked Wonderful Weekend

 I had a really nice weekend. I didn't expect to since I had both my Covid booster and my flu shot  on Thursday afternoon. My first of the original two Covid shots put me under the weather for about 24 hours...but I just got a headache from this one and that's about it. And since I get headaches anyway, who knows if it was from the shots or not? At any rate, I was prepared for a stay-at-home-lay-about weekend.  Life is what happens when you are making other plans.  Since I decided Friday Night that I guess I wasn't going to be incapacitated after all, I arranged to go with friend, Donna to Baraboo to the Arts and Crafts Festival. It was really nice and way bigger than I thought it would be. Baraboo is where Ringling Brothers started so there were also circus-y things all over town. So much fun! After the Fair we went to lunch at a little breakfast place and then headed to one of my fav spots, Pewett's Nest, to see the gorge and waterfall. Then we stopped at Sky Hi Ap...
