Bloomin' Mailboxes and Rockin' Robins

I have an important announcement to make! For the first time in the past 147 months that has been the winter of 2007-2008, I believe that spring may be on its way at last! Now I know that I've been lulled into a false sense of security on this before. I've gone all springy-in-the-head over a warm day here and there, only to have my hopes dashed by another 6" of snow right on it's heels. But this morning, I discovered our mailbox poking it's sleepy head through the snow bank for the first time since January. Tulips and daffodils be damned! I've never seen a more beautiful sight than that black metal dome with it's little red plastic flag breaching the dirty, drooping mounds of snow! Then...THEN!!! On the way to work, I saw a whole herd of ROBINS! I KNOW!!!! Could this be it ?!?!?

In more good news, I finished The-Most-Boring-Baby-Blanket-Ever for Adorable Baby Jack this morning. Here it is in all it's banal glory.

I just have to wash it up and pop it in the mail...and it will arrive way before Adorable Baby Jack reached retirement age which is when I originally estimated it would be completed. Yay for me! Now it's off to spin spin spin my beautiful claret marino!

Well the most boring baby blanket ever is very attractive! We've been feeling like spring may be coming around here too... light out after 5 and all. Somebody in the office saw a red winged blackbird already (we've started our annual 'signs of spring' list). Robins winter around here, though I don't typically see them until March/spring. And guess what's coming tomorrow night? 3-6 inches of snow...

You betcha! The snowpile next to the dumpster is finally shorter than our van and the 4-6" glacier covering the parking lot is starting to recede and we can see *pavement* again. I KNOW!

My word verification: humcya

Let's all say it together: Winter? Hum c ya. buh-bye.

Yay Robins! Yay Mailbox! Yay water running down the sides of the streets! Yay mud along the edges of the sidewalks. Am I ready for sunshine? Ya, you bet.

Yes! YAY for the signs of Spring! And, it is really here in only six more days, and mother nature can't go arguing with the calendar, can she?? (Perhaps I shouldn't be tempting mother nature like that...)

I have a blanket which looks a lot like your :-) Yes, very boring...but nice finished product! The recipient will love it!

I think that blanket is beeee-yootiful. THought so the other night too. Banal? nope, warm, cozy, snuggly - and hand-made. Can't hardly do better than that, period. And YES we have a good deal of meltage, and I HEARD robins today. I'm hopin' my missing friend Bill Fold will emerge from the drifts as they melt away.....
