Happy New Year

Happy New Year! I hope everyone had a great Christmas. I did. My Mum came out for a couple of weeks to spend the holidays with us. It was a great visit with lots of rest and relaxation on order! Sure is quiet around these parts without her.

I'm back in the saddle as far as the Diva Challenges go. Her first challenge was to use the Happy New year theme. Ta Da. I know...the color kind of freaks me out as well but the New Year is a festive time, no?

I did another design first which I didn't like so I didn't post it. That's new for me to since I promised to post my first challenge attempt. My new New Year's Resolution is not to make those kind of promises! I'm going through a rebellious devil-may-care phase in my life right now!

I also did my first Ben Kwok template.  Ben is a sweet guy who makes animal templates that are broken down into a grid of segments that you can tangle in. It felt kind of like coloring for grown ups.  I did Mr. Squirrel here last weekend and am totally hooked
Can't wait to try the next one. He has several out there; a fox, mandrill, turtle, tiger...and puts a new one out each week. This week's was a darling little Kingfisher. It may be my next attempt.

I hope you all are filled with the post-holiday-new-project spirit as I am and that 2014 is the most creative year ever!

I don't get it, color freaks you out? This is just awesome. Colors so welchoosen, and a very joyful drawing you showed us. I like the squirrel. Where can I find these templates, can you put a link on your post, so that we can go there to. I love this template, and I think this is great for kids to do.

I know what you mean about color. You did use it very well, though. What medium did you use? I just bought some Inktense pencils that I had better like because they came highly recommended AND are expensive. They are permanent watercolor pencils so they can be layered without gumming up the works! After this weekends classes, which are freaking me out, I hope to settle down to experiment some more. Thanks for blogging! Someone has to do it, right?
