Dibs and Dabs

It occurs to me that it has been a long, hot summer of goofing off in regards to blog writing.  Now that the cool, crisp, fall weather reminds us that the long, cold, days of winter are just around the corner, I think it's time to stop flitting around, straighten and and blog write (sic)!

A friend asked me a while back to make a couple of jewelry pieces with lady bugs and bumble bees.  I did them right away when he asked and then realized that the way I had the oriented (diagonally) the design made it impossible for me to put the bales on the back so they couldn't be seen. Crap.  So I finally got around to redoing them this weekend. Aside from my crappy photography skills, I am having uber camera problems so please excuse the blurry cell phone picture...
There is a square pendant, a smaller, round pendant in a bag on the back and the pin. I made the pins with those gems that you can get for flower vases. They are a little irregularly shaped and chunky, that's what I liked about them.  What I didn't like is that I had to go through a bag of 100 to find half a dozen that weren't scratched or chipped. Oh well. Lessons learned.

If anyone is looking for a quick, inexpensive, little pic- me-up to say Thank You to a coworker or friend, we got these at work today: Mountain Dew, a Mounds candy bar and a silly straw. The note says 'MOUNDS of thanks for all you DEW.

Cool idea, no?

In other news, the cooler weather has found Ben and I taking longer walks in the 'hood.  It's been a long hot summer for ol' Ben and he is definitely groovin' in the autumn air. He recently had his good friend Duchess stay for a week. Here is a picture of them disemboweling his stuffed (not anymore) animal collection .
As you can see, they were very organized and systematic about it; one at a time...dead bodies piled to the right please. I'm not sure if she will be allowed back to our house again because she arrived  poofed, primped and powdered and was returned to her folks looking like she'd taken a week-long Harley ride in a monsoon. That's how we roll around here. Ben can't hold his licker you know!

Next up I will have a couple of Pinterest experiments to post on.  I am a total Pinterest geek these days. What have YOU been up to?
